Causeway acquires Elstree Computing
Causeway acquires Elstree Computing and becomes the UK’s largest construction software provider with an aim to create the industry's first end to end supply chain platform that helps manage every process from design to build to facilities management.
Causeway Technologies Limited (Causeway), a leading supplier of software solutions to the construction industry, has today announced the acquisition of Elstree Computing Ltd (ECL), a specialist supplier of cost advice and management software for cost consultants, and model based 3-D design software for infrastructure design professionals. With over 2,000 customers and employing 150 people, the enlarged Causeway business is now the UK’s largest provider of software to the construction industry on every measure; employees, revenue, customers.
With the origins of the business dating back to 1979, founder and Chairman, Charles Barber and his team have established ECL as a leading provider of specialist software to architectural practices, banks, contractors, consulting engineers, government agencies, health authorities, public utilities, retailers and quantity surveyors.
From feasibility through to final account to costs in use, ECL’s CATO enterprise suite provides a cost management software solution that delivers full building lifecycle support to the QS. True model based 3-D design ensures that ECL’s PDS suite addresses the design of major highways, roads, permanent and light rail, pavement rehabilitation, pipelines, airports, ports, residential and commercial developments.
Causeway's solutions and services enable organisations within the construction industry to increase profitability by managing costs, reducing risk and winning more profitable work. From addressing the inefficiencies of tendering and estimating through to project accounting, combined with the ability to manage documents, drawings, emails and best practice, Causeway has proven that its core solutions and services lead the way in producing a return on investment for its customers.
Philip Brown, Causeway’s CEO comments, “We are delighted to announce the acquisition of ECL. With their long history of supplying software and services to construction professionals, ECL’s solutions provide a highly complementary fit with our existing offerings to contractors and their supply chains. We now have 150 people in the Causeway family dedicated to creating the first end-to-end supply chain ‘platform’ for the construction process that will embrace all stakeholders”.
Charles Barber commented, “The combination with Causeway is good news for ECL and our customers. We’ve long felt that the leading software providers need to pool their respective innovations and energy to the betterment of the construction industry, and we are therefore very excited about the possibilities presented by the combination of Causeway and ECL”.
